Which FilmCraft are you looking for?
FilmCraft is used by more than one video product. The ArtCraft team’s filmcraft-desktop/filmcraft repository describes an open-source video editor built in Rust, with native and browser targets. Its core job is editing footage, color and sound; that is different from a text-to-video foundation model.
Separately, filmcraft.video describes a browser studio for image and video generation plus timeline editing. This guide treats that site’s product description separately and does not establish a shared operator or account system with the open-source project.
This is an editorial guide, reviewed November 4, 2026. AI Effects Video does not offer this tool or its API on this page, and does not claim that it powers our paid effects. Product descriptions below come from the linked public sources; we have not tested their generation quality, speed or billing.
Choose by the job you need to finish
If you already have clips and need to trim, arrange or finish them, an editor is the relevant category. If you need footage that does not exist, investigate a generation tool and its selected model first. If you want your photo in a particular published scene, start with the complete template reference.
These workflows can sit next to each other without being equivalent. An editor lets you decide the sequence and cut; it does not guarantee that missing footage can be generated. A generation studio can give you a starting clip, but you still need to judge its content before building the rest of a film around it.
| Route | Useful starting material | Main responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| FilmCraft editor project | Existing footage and audio | Edit and verify the exported sequence |
| filmcraft.video studio | A brief or supported reference input | Check model controls and review generated takes |
| Fixed photo effect here | Photos matching a published template | Choose the scene and review its order details |
Strengths and limits to check
The open-source project’s README calls it young and lists gaps including performance, plugin support and delivery codecs. Test a short copy of your own footage and its export before committing a full project. A feature list is not a guarantee that every camera format or operating system works equally well.
The filmcraft.video homepage says its controls depend on the chosen model. At this review, its plan buttons read “Purchases coming soon.” Treat the page as a product description, not proof of an available paid workflow. We have not verified accounts, purchases or generation there.
For either route, define the final destination and review the actual exported file. Check frame size, edit timing, audio and readable text. Comparing a complete editing project with one template purchase would hide the different amount of work involved; this article does not rank their costs or result quality.
Prefer a scene you can choose first?
AI Effects Video starts with a published reference scene. Open a template, watch its complete reference, match your permitted photos to the labeled roles and review the available settings and order total. One purchase covers one finished MP4; confirmed paid orders enter manual preparation. The selected reference determines the scene and duration.
The advantage is a smaller set of creative decisions: choose the effect you already like instead of building a new sequence. The limit is that you cannot turn it into an arbitrary prompt, model selection or editing timeline. References illustrate the action and composition; they do not guarantee identical faces, motion or sound. The templates below are alternatives for a similar creative goal, not samples generated by the tool discussed in this guide.
FilmCraft questions
Is FilmCraft one AI video model?
The sources here describe an editor project and a separately named browser studio. This guide does not identify a single foundation model called FilmCraft.
Are filmcraft.video and the open-source editor the same service?
A relationship is not established by the sources reviewed here. Use each source’s own product and operator information instead of treating matching names as proof.
Can I edit a timeline on AI Effects Video?
Our fixed-effect purchase flow does not offer a FilmCraft editor or timeline. It creates an order for the selected scene using its required photo roles.
Are these template videos FilmCraft outputs?
No such claim is made. The links lead to existing AI Effects Video references, with their own requirements and order details.
